It's hard to believe but feet have 250,000 sweat glands that can produce about half a pint of sweat every day! Not surprising that feet can be less than fragrant!
Easy to spot, the odour! Foot odour is very common and easy to control.
Bodies need to sweat; it's how the body regulates its temperature.
It is a myth that sweat itself smells, it is infact odourless. However, when bacteria found naturally on our skin reacts with it an unpleasant odour is created. This is particularly prevalent during hot weather, when bacteria multiplies more frequently.
Feet are covered up for up to 16 hours a day which concentrates moisture into one area causing foot odour in socks and footwear. If not washed off sweat can also be a cause of sore flaking skin around the toes, a key factor in development of athlete's foot.
